Despite its polarizing looks, Nissan managed to sell almost a million units of Juke, ever since its debut over 9 years ago. Which is why the second iteration has been created with better looks, technology, and increased dimensions.

Speaking of which, the quirky crossover now measures 4,210 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height. Wheelbase measures 2,636 mm. The new Juke has also managed to be lighter by 23 kg. As for the design, the circular headlamps are now full LEDs with a new Y-shaped signature complementing the larger V-Motion grille.

In some angles, the Juke might remind you of the Kicks, which replaced it in the North American markets in 2017. A new exterior paint finish called Fuji Sunset joins the lineup of 11 colors. Nissan is offering N-Design personalization package, and multiple color combinations for body, roof and interior upholstery. Bumpers and side sills are also customizable. The N-Design also gets 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors have been made jazzy too with contrasting colors. Features include soft-touch materials on the dashboard, door trim and footwells, sporty seats, 7-inch MID, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, TomTom Maps & Live Traffic, In-Car WiFi, NissanConnect Services app, and 8-speaker Bose Personal Plus sound system with UltraNearfield speakers integrated into front seat headrests. Options include Alcantara or leather upholstery. Download Nissan Juke tech sheet here.

Nissan says that the rear seat knee room is up by 5.8 cm, rear headroom up by 1.1 cm, and boot capacity is 422 litres – 20 percent more storage room.

As for safety, the new Juke gets ProPILOT system which accelerates and slows down the car to maintain the right distance and speed and also keeps the car centred within the lane. Other systems include Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Recognition, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Intervention.

Powering the new Juke will be a 1.0-litre (999 cc) 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 86 kW (117 metric hp) at 5,250 rpm and 180 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. There’s something called Over Torque function, which gets an additional 20 Nm for 25 seconds upon flooring the throttle. The engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT.

The DCT gets paddle shifters. However, both variants get a drive mode selector with Eco, Standard, and Sport modes.

The new Juke will be produced at Nissan’s manufacturing plant in Sunderland, UK. The first customer deliveries will take place at the end of November 2019 in European markets.
