Despite being nearly a decade and a half old, the Maserati GranTurismo manages to look fresh. When it drives past you, it still oozes an understated elegance that can’t be described in words; it might be down to the fact that there aren’t many of ’em compared to the other Italians or Germans.

Either way, like all good things must come to an end, Maserati has decided to let go of the GranTurismo with a special Zéda to celebrate the last day of its production. The Zéda simply means “Z” in the Modena dialect. For Maserati however, the Zéda is the bridge that connects the past, the present and the future of the brand.

Meaning, the GranTurismo will be replaced with a new one in 2020. The Modena plant is currently undergoing renovation with a new production line dedicated to this “new super sports model”.

As for the Zéda, it features new exterior shades designed by Centro Stile Maserati. Starting from the rear, the color transitions from White to Maserati Blue metallic. It apparently tells the story of the dawn of a new era through colors and materials.

The GranTurismo made its original debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2007. Its final and last version was the MY18 GranTurismo with better aerodynamics and creature comforts. The interior is where the GranTurismo had started to show its age and the MY18 tried its best to fix it.

As with most of the carmakers today, Maserati too is gearing up for electrification and autonomous driving in the coming years.
