The first-ever Mazda CX-30 is now on sale in the U.S. market with prices starting at $21,900. The crossover is also available in Japan, Mexico, Europe, and some Southeast Asian markets as well.

The CX-30 is the second model to adopt an evolved version of the Kodo design language after the Mazda3. It’s a simple yet elegant looking thing. Exterior features include LED headlamps with auto on/off feature, LED DRLs, LED combination taillights, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and power sliding-glass moonroof with one-touch-open feature.

The interior design too has been kept simple with no aggressive lines or confusing ergonomics. Features include a 7-inch driver display, 8.8-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, dual-zone climate control system, rear AC vents, and Bose 12-speaker premium audio system.

Options include a full-color Head-Up Display called Active Driving Display.

The driver’s seat has 8-way power adjustability with power lumbar support and 2-position memory. Other features include heated front seats, adjustable headrests, and 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback.

Safety and assistance systems include airbags, 3-point safety belts, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control System, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning, Lane-keep Assist, Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Driver Attention Alert, and Adaptive Front Lighting system as well.

In the U.S. market, the CX-30 is offered with a 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G gasoline engine with cylinder deactivation technology. It produces 186 hp at 6,000 rpm and 186 lb-ft (252 Nm) of torque at 4,000 rpm, and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The CX-30 is available as a front-wheel drive (FWD) or i-ACTIV AWD with Off-road Traction Assist.

In the UK, the CX-30 is offered with a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine that puts out 122 hp at 6,000 rpm and 213 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. There’s also the SkyActiv-X variant with 180 hp and 224 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed auto­mat­ic transmission and AWD. The SkyActiv-X uses a technology called Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI).

Last but not the least, the CX-30 measures 173-inches (4,394 mm) in length, 70.7-inches (1,796 mm) in width and 61.7-inches (1,567 mm) in height. Wheelbase measures 104.5-inches (2,654 mm). Unladen ground clearance is at 6.9-inches (175 mm).
