Mercedes-Benz is further expanding its 4th gen GLE lineup with the GLE 63 4Matic+ Coupe and GLE 63 S 4Matic+ Coupe. The styling is almost similar to the GLE 53 Coupe except for a touch more sporty look, especially the front bumper and squarish tailpipes at the rear.

The base model rides on 21-inch light-alloy wheels with AMG lettering as standard, while the ‘S’ variant comes with 22-inch wheels ex-factory. Other wheel variants with up to 22-inches are optionally available.

The 4.0-litre (3,982 cc) V8 twin-turbo puts out 420 kW (571 hp) between 5,750-6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 2,250-5,000 rpm. In the ‘S’ variant, the output is 450 kW (612 hp) between 5,750-6,500 rpm and 850 Nm of torque between 2,500-4,500 rpm. In both variants, the engine is coupled with EQ Boost starter-alternator that puts out an additional 16 kW (22 hp) and 250 Nm of torque which can be called upon temporarily. In addition to boost, the 48-volt on-board electrical system also performs other mild-hybrid functions such as recuperation and engine start/stop.

Transmission is AMG Speedshift TCT 9G, sending power to all four wheels via 4Matic+ fully variable AWD system. The ‘S’ variant is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 280 km/h (electronically limited).

Features include AMG Ride Control+ air suspension, ADS+ (Adaptive Damping System), Active Ride Control roll stabilization system, 3-stage ESP, Dynamic Select drive programs (Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Race [exclusive to S variant]), and an electronically controlled locking differential at the rear axle.

The brakes measure 400 x 38 mm at the front with 6-piston fixed calipers, and 370 x 32 mm at the rear with single-piston floating calipers. The S variant sports Red calipers while the base settles for Grey painted ones.

Buyers can opt for a high-performance ceramic brake system with bronze-colored 6-piston fixed calipers at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear.
