Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Vellfire luxury MPV in the country, priced at Rs 79.50 lakh, ex-showroom. The Vellfire is being imported to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), which explains the ridiculous price. It’ll compete against the likes of Kia Carnival and Mercedes-Benz V-Class in the country. Obviously, the Kia has the advantage of local manufacturing and hence can offer for a sane price.

Anyway, the Vellfire offered in India looks a bit different compared to the facelift we saw in 2018. It looks similar to the one offered in Indonesia.

The MPV is available only in a single ‘Executive Lounge’ variant in India. Exterior features include auto LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, front fog lamps, sequential turn signals (front & rear), ORVMs with heating & memory function, 17-inch alloy wheels, and twin sunroof.

There are two electric motors (E-Four AWD); the front motor has an output of 105 kW (143 hp) at 4,500 rpm, while the rear develops 50 kW (68 hp) at 4,608 rpm. The battery of the hybrid system is of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH).
