Mercedes-Benz has now updated its E-Class Coupé and Cabriolet models with revised styling and electrified powertrains. The styling updates are subtle and are in line with the facelifted E-Class Sedan and Estate models that we saw earlier in March 2020.

The photos here showcase the E-Class Cabriolet in Designo Hyacinth Red metallic with AMG Line and the AMG E 53 Coupe in Graphite Grey metallic with Night package and Carbon package.

Exterior features include the standard full-LED headlights or the optional Multibeam LEDs, reworked LED taillights, and refreshed wheel lineup which now includes aero wheels – claimed to contribute to fuel savings. The AMG E 53 Coupe rides on 19-inch aerodynamically optimized light-alloy wheels as standard; there’s also an option of 20-inch ones.

The refreshed interiors feature the MBUX system which comprises two 10.25-inch screens arranged side by side for a sublime widescreen experience. Buyers can go for the optional 12.3-inch screens. Other features include the Artico man-made leather upholstery and the optional Airscarf neck-level heating system (Cabriolet).

As always, the AMG E 53 Coupe gets its own instrument cluster display styles, AMG Performance steering wheel, seats with Alcantara inserts and AMG badges, red contrast stitching, red seat belts, and of course, carbon fibre inserts on the dashboard and centre console.

It also gets the AMG Ride Control+ multi-chamber air suspension with Adaptive Damping System. The damping characteristics can be experienced with three modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

Moving on to the business end of the story, variants for the regular E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models will be the E 220d, E 220d 4Matic, E 400d 4Matic, E 200, E 200 4Matic, E 300 and E 450 4Matic.

The range-topping diesel variant is the E 400d Matic, which packs a 3.0-litre (2,925 cc) in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged unit, producing 250 kW (340 hp) between 3600-4400 rpm and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque between 1200-3200 rpm.

On the petrol side, there is the E 450 4Matic, which has a 3.0-litre (2,999 cc) in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged unit under its hood, developing 270 kW (367 hp) between 5500-6100 rpm and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque between 1600-4000 rpm. In this variant, the EQ Boost system briefly provides an additional 16 kW (22 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission for all engines is a 9G-Tronic automatic.

The AMG E 53 Coupe and Cabriolet models are powered by a 3.0-litre (2,999 cc) in-line 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that also gets an electric compressor. The output is 320 kW (435 hp) at 6100 rpm and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque between 1800-5800 rpm. Here too, the EQ Boost gets an additional 16 kW (22 hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. The AMG Speedshift 9G transmission sends power to all four wheels via 4Matic+ fully variable AWD system.

The Coupe is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds (Cabriolet takes 0.2 seconds more) and on to a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), which can be optionally increased to 270 km/h (168 mph).
