Finnish startup Verge Motorcycles is now taking pre-orders for its first electric motorcycle called Verge TS. No, this has nothing to do with ‘The Verge’ brand. Verge Motorcycles started up as RMK and its first prototype was known as E2. The TS we’re seeing here, is an evolved and near-production version of it.

It retains the hubless rear wheel and rim-integrated motor. In simple words, the motor is hidden inside the rim of that hubless rear wheel.

Verge claims some big numbers for this motor. It achieves a peak power of 80 kW (109 hp) and a torque of 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft), enabling a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration in under 4 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).

As for the range, the TS is claimed to achieve 300 km (186 mi) in the city and 200 km (124 mi) on the highway, all depending on the riding style. With DC fast-charging, the TS can be charged in 45-50 minutes.

Also, notice that the TS only has hand brakes just like a scooter. There are no foot controls whatsoever – a bold move – but should’ve been there for a smooth transition from gas motorcycles to electric.

The Verge TS is priced at €24,990 with a pre-order deposit of €2,000.
