Bentley has commenced production of the Continental GT Pikes Peak — a limited edition that pays homage to the Continental GT that set a new record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb last year.

The Grand Tourer shaved an impressive 8.4 seconds off the existing record for the 12.42-mile (20 km) course in Colorado, making it the fastest production car ever at Pikes Peak. With Rhys Millen behind the wheel, the W12-powered Continental GT climbed almost 5,000 ft through 156 bends in 10 minutes and 18.4 seconds.

As for the limited edition, it’ll have a similar visual specification as that of the record-breaking car, curated by Mulliner. These include carbon fibre elements, gloss black detailing, Acid Green calipers, 22-inch gloss black wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Colour Edition tyres with ‘Radium’ finish, and of course, a neat little Pikes Peak logo on the front fenders.

The ‘100’ grille is optional and so is the mountain livery; 35% of the allocated vehicles include the latter.

The interior is done tastefully too with contrast Radium stitching and Pikes Peak embroidery to the seat headrests, also in Radium stitching. Materials used in the cabin include Alcantara, ‘Beluga’ leather, and carbon fibre. The passenger-side dashboard features a graphic showing a section of the Pikes Peak track and the record-setting time of 10:18.488.

The B&O speaker covers too feature the Radium finish. Powering the Continental GT Pikes Peak Edition is the same, massive, 6.0-litre (5,950 cc) W12 TSI petrol engine that develops 635 metric hp (467 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. It is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 333 km/h (207 mph).

In case you’re wondering, Bentley is producing only 15 units. Deliveries will begin in September 2020.

I personally like this gloss black finish with ‘Radium’ and Acid Green touches.
