Toyota Corolla wagon becomes Suzuki Swace for Europe

After revealing the RAV4-based Across SUV, Suzuki has now revealed the Swace wagon for the European market. The Swace is, of course, based on the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports that we saw over 2 years ago. This is all part of the ongoing Toyota-Suzuki collaboration, in case you’re wondering.

The styling tweaks on the front fascia are similar to that of the Across, while the rest of the wagon looks exactly the same as the Corolla Touring Sports. However, the Suzuki logo on the tailgate looks like an afterthought/patchwork.

Except for that logo on the steering wheel, the Swaceful interior is the same as the Corolla Touring Sports, obviously, and so are all of the features. These would include safety and driver assistance systems such as Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Road Sign Assist (RSA), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Crossing Traffic Alert (RCTA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Simple-Intelligent Parking Assist (S-IPA) and so on.

The Swace too is a hybrid vehicle. It combines a 1.8-litre (1,798 cc) 4-cylinder petrol engine (2ZR-FXE) and an electric motor. The ICE puts out 98 hp (72 kW) at 5,200 rpm and 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) of torque at 3,600 rpm, while the e-motor develops 72 hp (53 kW) and 163 Nm (120 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission is a CVT. The combined output is going to be about 122 hp (90 kW).
