Volkswagen Golf GTI is celebrating its 45th birthday with a special anniversary model, the Golf GTI Clubsport 45. It is based on the 300 hp Golf GTI Clubsport that debuted in October 2020.
The exterior of the hot hatch features some subtle differences compared to the regular Clubsport, such as a black roof, black roof spoiler, ’45’ decal on the side, and exclusive 19-inch Scottsdale alloy wheels in a high-gloss black finish with Tornado Red pinstripe detail. Also included are a sport exhaust system and removal of the Vmax limiter (otherwise top speed is limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph).
The cabin features premium front sport seats and a multi-function sport steering wheel with ’45’ badging. Mechanically, the Clubsport 45 is identical to the Clubsport with the same 300 metric hp on offer. The 320 metric hp Golf R remains to be the most powerful among the Mk8 Golf range at the moment.
The Golf GTI Clubsport 45 is priced at €47,790 in Germany.
