Subaru is launching the Outback wagon in Europe, scheduled to arrive at the European dealerships in April 2021. The Outback for Europe boasts a boxer engine, permanent AWD system, and the latest safety technology.

Visually, the Euro-spec Outback doesn’t look any different compared to the American Outback; it looks just as handsome and capable. However, there’ll be two new colors: Autumn Green Metallic and Brilliant Bronze Metallic. Built on the Subaru Global Platform (SGP), the 6th gen Outback boasts a significant increase in body and chassis rigidity (+90% front lateral flexural rigidity, +70% torsional rigidity, +70% front suspension rigidity and +100% rear sub frame rigidity).

Features in the cabin include a 11.6-inch central touchscreen, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a choice of Nappa leather seats or waterproof StarTex material, 522-litres of cargo space (with all seats up), and next generation EyeSight — suite of active safety and driver assistance systems, including Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering Function, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Speed Sign Recognition with Intelligent Speed Limiter, Lane Departure Warning with steering wheel vibration, Lane Departure Prevention, and Pre-Collision Braking System.

Powertrain
The Outback in Europe is powered by a 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder boxer (horizontally opposed) engine paired with a CVT and a permanent AWD system as standard. There’s also an X-Mode with ‘snow/dirt’ and ‘snow/mud’ sub-modes for additional off-roading capability. Other off-roading credentials include a ground clearance of 213 mm and approach, departure and break-over angles of 19.7°, 22.6° and 21.0°, respectively. The engine outputs 136 kW (185 metric hp) and 238 Nm (176 lb-ft) for the U.S. market; the output figures for Europe are yet to be confirmed.

The Outback also boasts a 2,000 kg (4,409 lbs) towing capacity.
