Mercedes-Benz EQS interior fully revealed

Mercedes-Benz is following the same strategy for the EQS as the 7th gen S-Class, which is to reveal the interior first, before revealing the car itself. In January this year, we had seen the EQS’ dashboard covered fully with displays. Now though, it’s time to check out the full interior.

Speaking of which, the EQS cabin looks even more futuristic compared to that of the S-Class. The dashboard is dominated by the MBUX Hyperscreen we saw earlier this year, which is powered by an 8-core CPU and 24 GB RAM. There are a total of 12 actuators beneath the touchscreen for haptic feedback, and up to 7 profiles can be stored in the system. Also, the “Hey Mercedes” command supports up to 27 languages with Natural Language Understanding (NLU). The curved glass panel is coated with aluminium silicate for scratch-resistance.

Other features in the cabin include an optional larger Head-Up Display that corresponds to a screen with a diagonal of 77-inches, 15-speaker Burmester surround sound system, HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air) which is part of the optional Energizing Air Control Plus, and No.6 MOOD Linen — a fragrance composed especially for the EQS. It bears the number 6 because Mercedes’ electrification attempts date back to 1906. The panoramic sliding sunroof is also an optional extra.

As we can see, there’ll be different options for the interior with regards to the displays and the materials. Those who don’t want to go ‘Hyper’, can get a set-up similar to the S-Class. Mercedes says that more than 40 new inventions have found their way into EQS.

Depending on the equipment, up to 350 sensors of various types are used as sensory organs in all parts of the car. They measure distances, speeds and accelerations, lighting conditions, precipitation and temperatures, seat occupancy as well as the driver’s eyelid movements or the passengers’ language. This wealth of information is processed by control units that, controlled by algorithms, make decisions at lightning speed. So they are the brain, so to speak. But a lot of information is only useful if you can do something with it. The EQS can expand its capabilities based on new experiences, because it is highly capable of learning thanks to artificial intelligence (AI).
