Brabus 800 debuts as a wolf in sheep’s clothing

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S has been injected with Brabus’ bodykit and boost, making it — in Brabus’ words — a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”. The Brabus 800 is available on both Sedan and Wagon bodystyles.

The E63 S gets delicious-looking naked carbon fibre aerodynamic parts that can be ordered with either high-gloss or matte coating. These components include front spoiler lip, intake inserts, a bootlid spoiler, and of course, a rear diffuser insert. Brabus Monoblock ‘Platinum Edition Z’ 21-inch forged wheels round off the looks. While the air suspension comes standard, buyers can opt for a Sports Unit that lowers the ride height by 10 or 20 mm depending on Comfort, Sport or Sport+ modes.

The interior can also be customized with stainless-steel scuff plates with a backlit Brabus logo that changes color with the ambient lighting; aluminum paddle shifters, carbon inlays, and various leather and Alcantara upholstery options.

Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the plug-and-play PowerXtra module injects a special mapping for injection, ignition and boost pressure control. In addition, a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system optimizes power delivery by reducing exhaust backpressure. As a result, the 4.0-litre (3,982 cc) V8 biturbo motor pumps out an extra 138 kW (188 metric hp) and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque, bringing the total to 588 kW (800 metric hp) at 6,600 rpm and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque at 3,600 rpm. Brabus claims a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 3.0 seconds for the Sedan while the Wagon needs a tenth of a second more. The top speed, however, is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph) on both body styles.
