CaetanoBus BEV and FCEV buses get Toyota badges

Toyota-CaetanoBus-e.City-Gold-and-H2.City-Gold

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) not only supplies the fuel cell technology to Portugal’s CaetanoBus but also owns a controlling stake in the busmaker via a joint venture. Which is why TME decided to put its badges on both the battery electric — e.City Gold and the fuel cell electric — H2.City Gold buses. It’s a clever co-branding strategy to showcase the Japanese giant’s other ventures beyond cars.

The H2.City Gold uses Toyota’s fuel cell stack and offers a range of up to 400 km (249 mi), while the e.City Gold offers a range of up to 300 km (186 mi). The 180 kW (245 metric hp) electric motors for both buses come from Siemens.

The co-branding of CaetanoBus zero-emission buses shows the confidence we have in our latest investment and our longstanding partnership with Caetano. It also underlines the importance that Toyota places on developing zero-emission mobility beyond cars, on our path to carbon-neutrality. — Matt Harrison, President & CEO, Toyota Motor Europe
