OLA CEO takes the company’s first electric scooter for a test ride

Softbank-backed Ola Electric Mobility — a subsidiary of Bengaluru-based ridesharing company Ola Cabs, is all set to launch its first electric scooter, and the company figured that there’s no better way of promoting the vehicle other than the CEO himself taking it for a spin on the streets of Bengaluru on a Sunday morning.

The short video clip highlights some of the key features of the scooter, including its acceleration, handling, cornering, and under-seat storage. The video team has done a great job in showing a random “Coming Soon” hoarding which perfectly pairs with the dramatic instrumental bg music.

The scooter in question was developed by a Dutch company named Etergo — which was acquired by Ola last year. Its technical specifications will most likely remain unchanged. The motor develops about 6 kW (8 metric hp), drawing juice from a removable battery pack. The scooter is said to have a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph).

Ola is building a new factory in Tamil Nadu, which it claims to be the “world’s largest two-wheeler factory”.
