At this year’s SEMA Show, Toyota is showcasing five off-road builds based on Tacoma and Tundra trucks. These include a campervan, an off-road racing support vehicle, an Overlanding concept, a lifted and accessorized Tundra, and a Tacoma with a trailer.

“Tacozilla” Tacoma Camper

Built by the Toyota Motorsports Garage team, the “Tacozilla” Tacoma Camper pays homage to Toyota campers from the ’70s and ’80s, which explains its retro shapes and retro livery on the outside. Inside, it has a 3D-printed dining table that transforms into a backlit piece of wall art. The campervan also boasts teak sauna-style flooring, a full bathroom with a hot-water shower, and a kitchenette with a stove and sink.

TRD Desert Chase Tundra

Based on the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro, the Desert Chase Tundra is also built by the Toyota Motorsports Garage team. As mentioned, it is intended to be an off-road racing chase support vehicle. Upgrades include a TRD-designed long-travel suspension that uses the OEM mounting points and a wide-body kit created at TRD’s North Carolina composite shop. The bed includes essentials for the chase team such as a custom-made roll bar with two roll bar-mounted spare tires, a custom-mounted off-road jack, and other recovery equipment.

Tacoma Overlanding concept

Next up is the Tacoma Overlanding concept, built in association with Utah-based Cruiser Outfitters. Based on the Tacoma SR5 trim, the Overlanding concept features an Old Man Emu BP-51 adjustable suspension system with Old Man Emu upper control arms and Dakar leaf springs at the rear. It also boasts an ARB Summit Combo bar with fog lights, an Expedition One dual swing rear bumper system, and an Ultra HD skid plate system and rocker protection/rock sliders. A Yakima rooftop tent is another highlight of the build.

Lifted and Accessorized Tundra

This Lifted and Accessorized 2022 Tundra is a simple one compared with the others. Toyota said that it’ll offer an assortment of genuine Toyota and TRD parts showcased on this build, including a new 3-inch lift kit, which apparently is just one of over 100 accessories that will be available for the new truck. This particular example is finished in a head-turning Supersonic Red paint.

TRD Sport Trailer

This Tacoma is hooked-up with an adventure-ready TRD Sport Trailer that features a Yakima four-person tent with an awning, a refrigerator, a water heater, fresh and gray water holding tanks, a slide-out sink and stove, and of course, campsite lighting.
