BMW Group India delivered 8,876 cars (BMW + Mini) and 5,191 motorcycles in 2021, with the BMW car brand registering a growth of just over 35%—the highest in a decade, compared with 2020. Of 8,876 cars, the BMW brand accounted for 8,236 units, with the remaining 640 being Minis—a growth of 25% compared with 2020.

BMW said that over 40% of contribution came from locally assembled models such as the X1, X3 and X5. As for Mini, the locally assembled Countryman grabbed a 50% share in sales, while the 3-door Hatch and its Convertible sibling contributed 18% each. The remaining 14% were probably JCW models, but BMW didn’t say anything on that.

As for the BMW Motorrad India, the premium motorcycle manufacturer posted a growth of 102.5% compared with 2020. The G 310 R and G 310 GS together commanded a share of over 90% in sales. Other models popular among motorcycling enthusiasts here in India were the S 1000 RR, R 1250 GS/GSA, F 900 R/XR and the R 18. The C 400 GT scooter launched in the last quarter was also in great demand, the company said.
