Kia has commenced production of the 4th gen Carens MPV at its Anantapur plant in India, ahead of its expected launch in the country this month. Bookings opened on January 14, 2022. The new Carens offers five trims to choose from: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus.
Key exterior features depending on the trim include Crown Jewel LED headlamps, Ice Cube LED fog lamps, LED taillights, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a sunroof. As for body colors, there are 8 options: Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey and Aurora Black Pearl.

Depending on the trim and the number of seats (6- or 7-seater) you choose, the Carens offers five engine & transmission combos. For starters, there’s a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 85 kW (115 metric hp) and 144 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There’s also a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 85 kW (115 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque; this engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. For those who want some performance as well with their MPV, the Carens also has a 1.4-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol in its portfolio, offering 103 kW (140 metric hp) and 242 Nm (178 lb-ft) of torque; transmission options will be a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
