Lexus RZ 450e shows its side and rear fascias

Lexus-RZ-450e-Prototype

Lexus has released a couple more images/renderings of the RZ 450e that was announced in December 2021 as part of Toyota’s 2035 BEV strategy. In case you missed it, the strategy involves 30 new BEV models by 2030, including a few from the Lexus brand. One of which is gonna be the RZ 450e. But I’m pretty sure you don’t have to wait till 2030 to get your hands on one; although Lexus still refers to this as a “prototype”, the vehicle looks like it is almost ready to roll off the production line by the end of this year or early next year.

For those who couldn’t figure out, the RZ 450e is a Lexus-ized version of the Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra. While the front fascia gives off a pretty good hint, I think the rest of the car manages to look fairly unique. The side profile looks rather busy with its creases and kinks, as does the rear fascia with its curtains and an upswept tailgate; not completely sure if those air curtains/outlets are functional. But I think it has to be appreciated how the designers have created a unique taillight design compared with bZ4X and Solterra. Also, it appears that the RZ 450e rides slightly lower than its cheaper siblings.

While the technical information is not available just yet, I think it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the RZ 450e might offer a bit more horsepower and torque than the bZ4X and Solterra.
