As you probably know by now, the year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the BMW M division, and as part of the celebrations, BMW has been launching special editions across the globe. For the Indian market, the company has lined up 10 ‘50 Jahre M Editions’—which include the M340i, the M4, the M5, the 6 Series, and a few SUVs as well. The first one to arrive at the Indian shores is the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition, priced at INR 68,90,000, ex-showroom, Pan India.

For the uninitiated, the M340i xDrive was launched in March 2021 as something in between a regular 3 Series and an M3. The special edition, on the exterior, gets high gloss black elements such as the grille, bumper intake inserts and mirror caps; new BMW roundel badges with M colors, and BMW Individual High-Gloss Shadow Line extended content. The M Aerodynamics Package comes standard, which was also the case with the regular M340i.

For the inside, the special edition carries over the regular M340i’s features such as the M Sport leather steering wheel, front sport seats, M seat belts, Anthracite headliner, 3-zone climate control, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, and more. Download the spec sheet here.

No mechanical changes; the M340i 50 Jahre M Edition is powered by a 3.0-litre (2,998 cc) straight-six turbocharged petrol engine that develops 285 kW (387 metric hp) at 5,800 rpm and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque between 1,850 and 5,000 rpm. An 8-speed automatic gearbox drives all four wheels via xDrive AWD system. M Sport Suspension, Variable Sport steering and M Sport Differential come standard as well.
