Tata Tiago EV launched at Rs 8.49 lakh

Tata Motors has launched an all-electric version of its Tiago hatchback, with prices starting at INR 8.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. The Tiago EV (stylized as Tiago.ev) comes in four main trims and with two battery pack options:

Visually, the Tiago EV is differentiated from its ICE sibling with blue accents all around, including on the so-called 14-inch Hyperstyle wheels. You got five exterior colors to choose from: Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Midnight Plum and Tropical Mist, all coupled with a black roof.

The same contrast blue touches can be found on the inside as well; the leatherette seats feature contrast blue stitching. The centre console features a circular knob to select Reverse, Neutral, Drive, and of course, Sport mode as well. The Zconnect connected car tech is claimed to offer 45 features, including stolen vehicle tracking, remote immobilization, remote vehicle diagnostics, vehicle health alerts, smartwatch connectivity, and more.

Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the Tiago EV (or, Tiago.ev) is powered by a single electric motor at the front, but the output figures vary depending on the battery pack choice. With the 19.2 kWh pack, the motor offers 45 kW (61 metric hp) and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque, and with the 24 kWh pack, the numbers jump to 55 kW (75 metric hp) and 114 Nm (84 lb-ft). The ranges as per the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC) are claimed to be 250 km (155 mi) and 315 km (196 mi).

The 7.2 kW AC home charger is claimed to add 35 km (22 mi) range with 30 min charging, and a full charge (10%-100%) is claimed to take 3 hr 36 mins. DC fast charging is claimed to add 110 km (68 mi) range with 30 mins of charging and can apparently charge 10%- 80% in 57 mins. As for warranty, the battery and motor come with 8 years or 160,000 km warranty.
