Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance Edition 1 goes on sale

You probably remember seeing the Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance—which joined the 7th-gen S-Class (W223) lineup last December. Unlike its smaller sibling the AMG C 63 S E Performance—which made a controversial debut by losing the famous 4.0L V8 biturbo for a smaller ICE, the S 63 E Performance still retains the aforementioned V8 powerplant, which is, of course, a wonderful thing. Now there’s one more reason to celebrate as Mercedes is offering the AMG S 63 E Performance Edition 1.

So, what’s all the hoopla? Well, the AMG S 63 E Performance Edition 1 is all about spending more money. I mean, the regular AMG S 63 E Performance already starts at €208,392.80 in Germany, but as mentioned, if you don’t mind spending €29,750 extra, the Edition 1 on the exterior gets you the alpine grey uni paintwork, 21-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, red-painted calipers, and also the €1,130.50 AMG Night Package that is included as standard.

On the inside, you get exclusive AMG Nappa leather upholstery with red contrast stitching; AMG carbon fibre decorative surfaces; a rear seat entertainment system; AMG performance steering wheel covered in a combo of Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre; wireless smartphone charging for the rear occupants; special floor mats, and a few more. A car cover is also part of this Edition 1.

No mechanical changes. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance packs a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid all-wheel-drive powertrain, offering combined figures of 590 kW (802 metric hp) and 1,430 Nm (1,055 lb-ft). Read more here.
