Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Golf R 333 Limited Edition—based on the Golf R Performance variant. As the name suggests, the Golf R 333 is limited to 333 units and can be ordered in Germany from June 2, with deliveries planned for October 2023. The hot hatch carries a price tag of €76,410—which is €18,425 more than the “regular” Golf R Performance.

So, what do you get for all those extra Euros? Well, for starters, you can opt for the Lime Yellow Metallic paint besides the existing Pure White, Lapiz Blue Metallic and Deep Black Pearl Effect. This special paint is complemented by a black-painted roof and 333-branded black decals on the lower part of the doors. The rest of the goodies have been carried over from the regular Golf R Performance, including that roof spoiler, quad Akrapovič tailpipes, and those 19-inch ‘Estoril’ rims. Speaking of rims, they’re painted black and are wrapped with semi-slick tyres. And, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are included as standard.

On the inside, things have been carried over as well, including those “Carbon Grey” inlays, that sporty R-branded flat-bottom steering wheel, and sport seats in Nappa leather. A 480-watt Harman Kardon audio system should further satisfy your aural desires. Passive safety includes a front-center airbag as well.

The 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine offers 245 kW (333 metric hp) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft); the same as those of the Golf R Performance, but 13 metric hp more than the Golf R. A 7-speed DSG drives all four wheels via 4Motion AWD system. VW claims an official 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time of 4.6 seconds. The top speed here is 270 km/h (168 mph). The R-Performance Torque Vectoring with Vehicle Dynamics Manager is also part of the key highlights.

Production is gonna commence in September. Also, a customer event in the Autostadt is planned for all buyers of the Golf R 333 Limited Edition who’ll pick up their vehicle in Wolfsburg (Germany) in October.
