Fiat Grande Panda joins its cousins with mild & full electric options

Fiat-Grande-Panda

Fiat has upgraded the Panda to Grande Panda. Meaning, it has been upgraded from A-segment to B-segment. However, do note that the Grande Panda is not a replacement for the Panda, as Fiat is selling both models in Italy. The Grande Panda is available in mild-hybrid and battery-electric options, with base prices of €16,950 and €22,950, respectively.

Built on Stellantis’ Smart Car Platform, the Grande Panda is essentially Fiat’s version of the Citroen C3 Aircross and the Opel Frontera. The design team at Centro Stile in Mirafiori has made some interesting design choices, such as pixely lights and grille pattern at the front, and cubed taillights at the back. I hope Hyundai is cool with that 😉. According to Fiat, the so-called PXL LED headlights evoke retro video games. But anyway, on the side, you can notice the “PANDA” debossing, which looks quite interesting, as is the “FIAT” debossing on the tailgate. In addition to a variety of exterior colors, buyers can choose from three trims: POP, ICON, and LA PRIMA. The range-topping LA PRIMA rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Grande Panda Hybrid (48-volt MHEV) is powered by a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a 21 kW (28.5 metric hp) electric motor integrated into a 6-speed DCT. The system power output is 81 kW (110 metric hp). The system torque is undisclosed, but the ICE produces 205 Nm (151 lb-ft).

There’s also a battery-electric version, as mentioned, powered by a single electric motor at the front, offering a peak power output of 83 kW (113 metric hp). Again, these weirdos haven’t disclosed the torque, but according to a database website, it is 122 Nm (90 lb-ft). A 44 kWh battery pack is estimated to offer a combined range of up to 320 km (199 mi).

You can’t sell an electric/electrified model in 2025 without talking about sustainability, right? And so, the Grande Panda boasts a BAMBOX Bamboo Fiber Tex dashboard, an exclusive fabric containing 33% real bamboo fibres. Fiat also claims that 140 recycled beverage cartons are used in the making of every Grande Panda, repurposing the non-recyclable layers into Lapolen Ecotek—a blue plastic with a shimmering aluminium finish, used throughout the interior.

Other key highlights include a 10-inch digital cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, and a comprehensive ADAS suite that includes Cruise Control, Speed Limiter, Active Safety Brake, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, and open-door alerts.

Fiat offers two service packages: Connect ONE, including Emergency Call, Roadside Assistance, and Vehicle Health Reports; and Connect PLUS, which adds Vehicle Finder, and other services to improve maintenance, such as vehicle information and vehicle health alert, available through the Fiat mobile app.
