Tata Motors has launched the EV version of its popular SUV Harrier at an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 21.49 lakh (US$ 25,000). This price is for the single-motor RWD variant. Pricing for the dual-motor AWD variant (branded as Harrier.ev QWD) is expected to be disclosed in the coming days. Bookings will open on July 2, 2025.

Despite being built on an EV-specific platform called acti.ev, the Harrier EV doesn’t look all that different compared with its diesel-powered sibling, which I think is pretty cool. It continues to have an imposing stance and road presence. The front and rear light bands perform welcome and goodbye animations, as is the case with the ICE variant. The example shown here rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts.

The chassis rendering above shows an all-wheel-drive configuration with two motors. The front motor is rated 116 kW (158 metric hp), while the rear motor is rated 175 kW (238 metric hp). The combined figures are 291 kW (396 metric hp) and 504 Nm (372 lb-ft). Depending on the variant, there’ll be either a 65 kWh or a 75 kWh battery pack, with a claimed real-world range of between 480 and 505 km (298 – 314 mi). Again, the range depends on motor and battery configuration.

Tata Motors partnered with Kerala-based off-road expert Mohammed Fahed to showcase the Harrier EV AWD’s capabilities by climbing the Elephant Rock in Idukki, Kerala. Fahed takes advantage of the car’s off-road aids such as Off-road Assist with Cruise Control (5 km/h), Transparent Mode, Rock Crawl Mode and Boost Mode to accomplish the challenge. Needless to say, no matter how many off-road aids the car features, it’s the driver skill at the end of the day that makes such challenges possible. So, unless you’re an experienced off-roader, it’s advisable NOT to try such stunts alone.

The Harrier EV has been loaded with a ton of features, including a 14.5-inch Samsung Neo QLED display with Harman UX, a 10.2-inch digital cluster, a smart digital steering wheel, a phygital control panel underneath central air vents, voice assisted panoramic sunroof with mood lighting, 6-way powered memory driver seat, 6-way powered co-driver seat, front seat ventilation, a 65-watt charger, a 10-speaker JBL audio system, Dolby Atmos, e-Valet parking assist system, Digi Access system, Level 2 ADAS, and vehicle to load (V2L) technology.
