2027 Audi Q9 interior shows off dynamic lighting

Despite being over 5 meters in length, the Audi Q7 is classified as a “mid-size” crossover, which tells you how our vehicles have grown uncontrollably in size over the years. Despite selling the Q6, classified as a “full-size” crossover, in China since 2022, Audi claims that the upcoming Q9 will be its first full-size SUV. That’s probably because the Q6 is exclusive to the Chinese market. But anyway, the Q9 is expected to make its world premiere in summer 2026 in Europe. In the meantime, let’s have a glimpse at its interior.

The front row looks fairly typical of a modern tech-overloaded automobile with three displays. Audi calls it the Audi MMI panoramic display, where you’ll also get a display for your front passenger, so that they can stop blabbing about whatever they were blabbing. The ambient lighting you see, dubbed dynamic interaction light (IAL), is part of the ambient light package plus. If specced with the Bang & Olufsen 4D premium sound system, the lighting can sync with the rhythm of the music, plus match the color scheme to the track’s cover art. The seat headrests will also come with an integrated speaker. The panoramic glass roof offers 9-step opacity control; the laminated glass is claimed to block more than 99.5% of UV radiation.

The Q9 will be a three-row SUV, of course, but customers can spec a 6-seat layout for maximum business-class comfort. In this option, the middle row comprises two electrically adjustable individual seats with active ventilation in the center section of both the cushion and the backrest. The front seats are sports seat plus, and come with ventilation and massage functions. As standard, all seats are partially power-adjustable. The third-row seatbacks can be folded down individually via electric controls.

For the first time in an Audi, all doors can be operated electrically. Furthermore, an extensive set of surround sensors with obstacle detection stops the door if there is not enough room for it to open. This feature can also help improve road safety, for example, by detecting approaching cyclists or other road users. Some of the other key features include Qi2.2 standard wireless charging pads and USB-C charging ports delivering up to 100 watts.
