As you may know, the 63 S E Performance variant of the second-gen Mercedes-AMG GT offers 600 kW (816 metric hp) and 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft) right after the factory floor. Except for those occasional track days, you don’t get to use all those horses. But what if you wanted more anyways? Well, Brabus always has the answer, and it’s called the Brabus 1000, priced at €445,900 (excluding VAT). You’re paying more than €280,421 over the “base” 63 S E Performance.
So, what do you get for all that extra money? Well, for starters, you get delicious-looking exposed carbon fibre parts, including the front spoiler, canards, grille inserts, fender vent inserts, rear wing, and of course, the rear diffuser. The car rides on a staggered setup of Brabus Monoblock Platinum Edition forged wheels measuring 21-inch at the front and 22-inch at the rear, wrapped with high-performance tires of sizes 305/30 ZR 21 and 335/25 ZR 22.
Another key highlight of this build is Brabus sports springs, developed in association with German suspension systems manufacturer KW. The ride height can be lowered by up to 20 mm. Moving on to the juicy bits of the story then, the Brabus 1000 has some significant differences compared with the stock car.
The ICE displacement has been increased from stock 3,982 cc to 4,407 cc. The cylinder bore was enlarged to 84 mm and matching forged pistons were installed. A special, precision-balanced billet-aluminum crankshaft along with forged high-performance connecting rods lengthens the stroke to exactly 100 mm. And of course, the stock turbos were swapped with Brabus high-performance turbos. All these hardware upgrades are controlled by the Brabus engine management system, producing 585 kW (795 metric hp) at 5,900 rpm and a peak torque of 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft) at 2,900 rpm. However, the torque is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm (774 lb-ft). The 150 kW (201 metric hp) electric motor on the rear axle remains unchanged.
The system figures are as follows: 735 kW (1,000 metric hp) and 1,820 Nm (1,342 lb-ft). However, to show some mercy on the transmission, the torque is electronically limited to 1,620 Nm (1,195 lb-ft). A Brabus sports exhaust system with 76 mm tailpipes rounds off the build.
The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 2.6 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 320 km/h (200 mph).
