2026 Subaru Trailseeker is ready to go on sale

Now, what is this Trailseeker thing, you might be wondering. Well, you take the Toyota bZ4X or the Subaru Solterra, and stretch it out a li’l bit, and voila, you’ve got yourself a brand new Subaru Trailseeker. Toyota’s version of this stretched-out variant is called the bZ4X Touring. The Trailseeker will go on sale in the U.S. market sometime in Spring 2026, with an MSRP starting at $39,995. There are three variants to choose from:

Variant MSRP
Premium $39,995
Limited $43,995
Touring $46,555

Options such as premium paint (Daybreak Blue Pearl), leather upholstery, and leather upholstery + two-tone paint (Crystal White Pearl) will cost a li’l bit more.

The Trailseeker tries its best to look significantly different from the Solterra, while retaining the same design language. It has a less busy-looking design compared with the Solterra, which I think will appeal to the older generation. The Trailseeker is about 140 mm longer and 20 mm taller than the Solterra, while the wheelbase remains identical.

The base model rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, while the other two ride on 20-inch ones. Panoramic glass roof with motorized shade is exclusive to the Touring.

The Trailseeker in America is powered by two electric motors with combined figures of 280 kW (375 bhp/380 metric hp) and 537 Nm (396 lb-ft). An 8.5-inches of ground and a so-called dual-function X-Mode should come in handy while you’re out on an adventure. The X-Mode system includes Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes. A 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is estimated to offer a range of up to 452 km (281 mi) on a single charge. The battery pack can be DC fast-charged with up to 150 kW.

Key highlights inside include a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, StarTex water-repellent upholstery, heated & ventilated front seats, leg heater for driver & front passenger, wireless charging pads, heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, Harman Kardon audio system, and EyeSight Driver Assist Technologies.
