Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to establish the “TKM Bizintel Hub” at KWIN City, outskirts of Bengaluru. KWIN City (Knowledge, Wellbeing, and Innovation City) is an upcoming 5,800-acre business township about 50 km north of Bengaluru city. The township aims to attract investments of over 48,000 CR ($5.8 billion) and generate over 100,000 jobs.
Spread across 300 acres, the proposed TKM Bizintel Hub will focus on areas including testing and evaluation of mobility solutions, digital systems integration, and manufacturing innovations. There are no details on what those terms actually mean, but the point I guess is that the facility will be a technology and innovation hub. TKM will initially invest 1,200 CR ($125 million) over the next 5 years.
Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister M.B. Patil said that the first phase of the KWIN City is already in progress. Besides technology, the City will be a hub for education and healthcare as well.
We are grateful to the Government of Karnataka for its continued support and collaboration over the years, which has played a key role in our journey. India has always been a strategically important market for Toyota to drive innovation and sustainable mobility initiatives. The TKM Bizintel Hub will support testing and evaluation activities, advancements in digital transformation and intelligent manufacturing across the entire supply chain business, leveraging India’s robust information technology ecosystem with skilled talent. – Masakazu Yoshimura, Chairman, MD & CEO, Toyota Kirloskar Motor
