Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has launched the much-awaited Dzire compact sedan at Rs 5.45 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. It’s no longer a ‘Swift Dzire’, but just the Dzire. The Swift moniker has been dropped owing to its success in the market. The new Dzire comes in four variants, and the variant wise ‘introductory’ prices are listed below, all are ex-Delhi.

Fuel Trim Price
Petrol LXi Rs 5,45,000
VXi Rs 6,29,000
VXi AGS Rs 6,76,000
ZXi Rs 7,05,000
ZXi AGS Rs 7,52,000
ZXi+ Rs 7,94,000
ZXi+ AGS Rs 8,41,000
Diesel LDi Rs 6,45,000
VDi Rs 7,29,000
VDi AGS Rs 7,76,000
ZDi Rs 8,05,000
ZDi AGS Rs 8,52,000
ZDi+ Rs 8,94,000
ZDi+ AGS Rs 9,41,000

The new Dzire is claimed to be lighter and more fuel-efficient than the outgoing model, thanks to the ‘Heartect’ platform, which also underpins the new Swift and the Baleno. ~85 kg on petrol and 95 kg on the diesel has been shaved off. Since the Swift moniker has been dropped, the designers have worked hard to differentiate the compact sedan from the hatchback on which it was originally developed from. The new Dzire now looks more proportionate than ever. Although the headlamps have been inspired by the new Swift, there’s a ‘touch’ of Baleno to its looks, especially on the side. The width has been increased by 40 mm and wheelbase by 20 mm, allowing more room for the occupants.

The interiors too get a significant design change in order to differentiate it from the hatch. While the new Swift has circular air vents in the middle, the Dzire gets a large trapezoid shape. A similar change has been made to the instrument cluster. While the dual-tone interior is standard across the range, the burl wood and satin chrome accents start from the V variant.

The new Dzire gets ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, dual front airbags, ISOFix child seat mounts, front seat belt pre-tensioner and force limiter, driver seat belt warning, key left warning and door ajar warning as standard across the range. Big thumbs up for that!
