Without wasting time talking about how they look, lets jump directly to the business end – the engines.

Engines
2017 City – The City offers a 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine with an output of 118 hp and 145 Nm of torque. On the diesel side, there is a 1.5 litre i-DTEC unit, producing 99 hp and 200 Nm of torque. While the petrol engines will get an option of 5 Speed manual or a CVT, the diesel gets a 6 Speed manual. Also, the top-spec petrol ZX is offered only with a CVT.

Maruti Ciaz – The Ciaz offers a 1.4 litre petrol engine producing 91 hp and 130 Nm of torque, with an option of 5 Speed manual or 4 Speed AT. The diesel is a 1.3 litre with SHVS, producing 89 hp and 200 Nm of torque, paired to a 5 Speed MT. Similar to the City, the automatic is exclusive to the petrol engine, and is not available in the base variants.

Exterior
2017 City – The top-spec VX and ZX get LED headlamps, LED DRLs (standard), LED fog lamps, Electric sunroof with one-touch open/close, ORVM integrated LED blinkers (standard except S variant), and 16 inch diamond cut alloys. The ZX gets LED rear combi lamps, rain sensor, and automatic headlight control. Lower variants get halogen headlamps, and only V gets halogen fog lamps and 15 inch diamond cut alloys.

Maruti Ciaz – The Ciaz packs projector headlamps and ORVM blinkers as standard. The top-spec ZXi+/ZDi+ gets 16 inch alloys, while the ZXi/ZDi get 15 inch ones.

Interior
2017 City – While the top-spec VX and ZX get leather appointments for seats, doors, armrests, steering etc, rest of the trims get fabric seats. The top three trims – V, VX, and ZX get a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, voice recognition and reverse camera view, and Smart Trunk Lock with Keyless Release. The base models get a 3.5 inch LCD screen with bluetooth telephony. Similarly, the base S and SV get 4 speakers, and the rest V, VX, and ZX get 8 speakers. Except the base S variant, rest all get automatic climate control with touch control panel, cruise control, driver seat height adjustment, power folding mirrors, and a customizable auto door locking feature. The top-spec ZX gets customizable automatic folding mirrors. One touch driver auto up/down power window is standard across the range too. While tilt adjustment for the steering is standard, telescopic adjustment is limited to the top-spec VX and ZX trims.

Maruti Ciaz – Here in Ciaz, leather (art) is limited to the top-spec ZXi+/ZDi+ trims. Wooden garnish, electric trunk opening, tilt steering, and power windows with driver side auto up/down with anti pinch is standard across the range. Automatic AC and driver seat height adjustment is limited to the top there trims. While the electrically adjustable ORVMs is standard, electrically foldable is limited to the ZXi and ZXi+ trims. SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and voice command is limited to the top-spec ZXi+ trims. Lower variants get an audio CD player with USB connectivity. Bluetooth connectivity is limited to the top three variants. Reversing camera is limited to the top-spec ZXi and ZXi+ trims.

Safety
2017 City – Moving on to the safety section, dual SRS airbags, ABS + EBD, rear ISOFIX mounts, day/night IRVM, rear defogger, driver seatbelt and door ajar warning are standard across the range. Top end ZX gets curtain airbags.

Maruti Ciaz – The Ciaz offers only a driver airbag and ISOFIX mounts as standard equipment. Rest all get dual front airbags, ABS, and seatbelt pre tensioners with load limiters. Reverse parking sensors are limited to the top three variants.

Price
2017 City – Prices for the 2017 City range from Rs 8.49 lakh to Rs 13.56 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. More

Maruti Ciaz – The Ciaz on the other hand is priced between Rs 7.5 lakh  to Rs 10.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
