Hummer will return as an all-electric GMC truck

GMC-Hummer-EV-teaser

The first thing this news reminded me was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s EV-converted Hummer H1 that he showcased in 2017. Not sure if GMC got inspired by this, but the company is all set to reveal the ‘Hummer EV’, the brand’s first all-electric truck, on 20 May 2020.

Meaning, the Hummer will not return as a brand, but as an EV under the GMC brand. The company estimates the truck to pack a 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft (15,592 Nm) of torque. A 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) time is estimated to be 3 seconds.

The GMC Hummer EV will be built in Michigan at General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Expected to go on sale by the end of 2021.
