Genesis X concept is a stunning all-electric GT of the future

Genesis-X-Concept

Hyundai’s luxury marque Genesis has unveiled the X concept on a private rooftop in Los Angeles. The X is a high-performance, all-electric GT that showcases the brand’s design capabilities and some cool onboard technology.

The two-door coupe features all the Genesis signature elements such as the Crest Grille, two-lined Quad Lamps front and rear, and a curved shoulder line on the side called ‘Parabolic Line’. The grille has a 3D G-Matrix pattern that been painted in the same color as the exterior of the car. Speaking of the color, the X is finished in ‘Lençóis Blue’, which apparently was inspired by the lagoons of Maranhenses National Park in Brazil, where a lake forms only during the rainy season. Also, notice how the headlight lines cut through the wheel arches. Those two upswept lines on the rear side windows remind me of the Kia EV6. The turbine-style 5-spoke rims look stunning too, especially against those lime-painted calipers.

The driver-focused cockpit might remind you of a certain classic Japanese sports car. But, there are some clever touches such as the discreet, super slim air vents that have been integrated within that curvature itself. Also, the drive mode selector on the centre console is actually a ‘Crystal Sphere’ that rotates into that position when the vehicle is on. As with most new EVs today, some of the materials used inside are recycled stuff. Notice that the driver section has a scotch brown color while the passenger side is in ocean wave green blue.

Genesis didn’t share any technical details of the car as the concept is mostly intended to showcase the design and technology. However, a near-production prototype might show up in the future.

The car that we are unveiling today is a concept car that embodies the essential elements that Genesis pursues in its designs. Please take a moment to meet the future of Genesis design through this concept car, which embodies our brand’s progressive and audacious spirit. – Jay Chang, Global Head of Genesis brand
