Mercedes-Benz delivers eCitaro G electric buses to Üstra

Mercedes-Benz-eCitaro-G-buses

Mercedes-Benz has delivered two eCitaro G all-electric articulated buses to Üstra — Hannover’s public transport operator. The new eCitaro G features second-generation lithium-ion batteries that are claimed to pack more energy content than before.

Üstra has placed an order for 48 city buses, of which, 30 are eCitaro solo and the remaining 18 are eCitaro G articulated buses. Mercedes offers 3- and 4-door versions of these articulated buses and it appears that Üstra has opted for the latter. There are multiple battery pack options, but these eCitaro G buses in particular are equipped with 10 battery packs with a total capacity of 330 kWh. The buses are equipped with a pantograph to get charged up at the bus stops.

Features inside include two TFT monitors (one each front and rear) for passenger information; 13 double USB ports, onboard WiFi, and a separate air-conditioning for the driver. Active safety systems include Preventive Brake Assist, Sideguard Assist — a turning assistance system, and Articulation Turntable Controller (ATC) — an anti-jackknifing system.
