EV Electra Rise is an electric two-door coupe from Lebanon

Lebanon — although the country is home to former Alliance boss Carlos Ghosn, is not known for having any homegrown automakers. But, a startup named EV Electra hopes to change that with a portfolio of electric vehicles. What we’re seeing here is named ‘Rise’ and it’s a two-door sporty electric coupe.

The Rise looks like a love child of a Bugatti and a Porsche that someone wanted so badly that they built themselves, with butterfly doors. From certain angles, it might remind you of a Porsche Cayman and a 918 Spyder (*Angela Merkel rolls eyes*). The “grille” at the front which resembles that of Bugatti’s horseshoe, is designed to look like a dome of a mosque — as suggested by that piece of cloth on the hood (featured image). EV Electra claims that the car is built on a superlight aluminum chassis with body panels made of fibreglass. The vehicle is claimed to weigh 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs).

The cabin looks fairly contemporary with a portrait-style 15.9-inch central touchscreen and a digital driver display. The inspiration for the steering wheel also appears to have come from the Chiron.

As for the technical bits, the Rise is claimed to be powered by a rear electric motor that develops 160 hp as per the company’s official website and 180 hp as per the specification sheet. In fact, there’s a conflict of official data between the website and the specification sheet. Anyway, what’s more interesting is that EV Electra has actually built what appears to be a running prototype —

Price? Well, US$ 30,000 (as mentioned in the specification sheet). EV Electra is currently “accepting” orders for a deposit of US$ 3,000 but their online form doesn’t actually work, not that I’m recommending you to place an order.
