Yamaha is celebrating Valentino Rossi’s legendary MotoGP career—which included nine world championship titles across the MotoGP, 250 cc and 125 cc classes, 115 wins, and 235 podiums over 425 race starts, with a special R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute. The racing motorcycle is a one-off and dons a special livery produced by Aldo Drudi—Rossi’s long-time helmet designer and friend.

The R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute also sports upcoming 2022 GYTR-spec parts and unique features that are all a direct result of Yamaha’s WorldSBK development, which helped the company achieve the 2021 WorldSBK Triple Crown, culminating in the highest spec R1 GYTR ever produced for track day usage.

Special parts from the 2022 GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) catalogue include an electronic throttle, a slipper clutch, a head gasket, a radiator kit, an air funnel set, a handlebar set, handlebar switches, front brake protector, an adjustable rear set, Akrapovic factory line system, and Marchesini wheel set. Special parts from the WorldSBK development includes a 22-litre fuel tank, full carbon rear subframe, WorldSBK-spec air filter, Marelli REX 140 ECU, Öhlins suspension, Brembo calipers, Chrome Lite dashboard with GPS, and a few more.

The R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute is powered by a 998 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine. The racing motorcycle was presented to Rossi at the 2021 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.
