As you probably know, Mercedes-Benz launched the locally-assembled EQS 580 4Matic in the country a couple of weeks ago, priced at INR 1,55,00,000, ex-showroom, Pan India. A month before that, the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ was launched at INR 2,45,00,000; this model is a CBU import and literally costs twice as much as what you’ll pay in Germany. How much difference the locally-assembled EQS 580 makes? Well, you’re not paying two times the price, that’s for sure, but you’re paying close to INR 42 lakh extra compared to what Germans pay for the same model. But hey, better than paying twice the price, right?

But anyway, in the latest sales report, the company said that the locally-assembled EQS 580 4Matic has received an “overwhelming response”, or, in other words, the company claims to have received 300+ confirmed bookings for the model. Deliveries are expected to commence in early 2023.

The EQS 580 also has two electric motors offering combined figures of 385 kW (523 metric hp) and 855 Nm (630 lb-ft). The 107.8 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a range of up to 857 km (532 mi) as per ARAI tests.

LWB E-Class continues to remain the marque’s top-seller in India. Also, 30% of MB India Q3 2022 sales volume comprised GLE and GLS models, with the latter being a top-seller in September 2022. Between Jan and September 2022, the company delivered 11,469 units as opposed to 8,958 units during the same period last year, registering a growth of 28%.
