FADA: PV retail up by 40.5% in October 2022

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has published October 2022 vehicle retail data, which shows an overall growth of over 47% compared with October 2021 data. Compared with October 2019 data, a pre-covid era, there’s a growth of over 8%. The Passenger Vehicle segment retailed a total of 3,28,645 units last month as opposed to 2,33,822 units during the same period last year, registering a growth of just over 40.5%. When you compare it with October 2019 data, a pre-covid era, there’s a significant growth of just over 17.8%. In the PV segment, Tata Motors and Mahindra continue to hold their 3rd and 4th place, respectively. Mahindra dealers retailed over 8,000 PVs more than Kia, keeping the latter in 5th place.

Every other segment was in green last month with a significant double-digit growth, mostly due to the festive season. The three-wheeler segment recorded nearly 66% growth last month. FADA President Manish Raj Singhania had the following to say –

Festive season in October 2022 brings cheers to the auto industry as for the first time customers of every category came out in good numbers and took part in festive purchases thus making it the best in the last 4 years. As anticipated earlier, the PV segment saw the best year in a decade by outgrowing 2020 numbers by 2%. When compared with the pre-covid festive period of October 2019, overall retails were up by 6%. All the categories were in green with 2W, 3W, CV, PV and Trac growing by 2%, 2%, 14%, 18% and 55% respectively.
