Nope, this ain’t another facelift, but the long-awaited third-gen Audi Q7. If you live in Germany, you’ll be able to order it later this month, with deliveries commencing in September. At launch, the new Q7 will be available only with a diesel powertrain, but in two tunes, with prices starting at €87,900 for the 180 kW (245 metric hp) variant and €90,500 for the 220 kW (299 metric hp) variant.
The styling, I’d say, is non-controversial, compared with the DEI garbage we’ve been seeing lately. The front fascia has a lot of L-shapes going on, but overall, the new Q7 has a fairly clean design. The example here is equipped with the optional digital Matrix LED headlights with micro-LED modules, which are capable of displaying communicative animations. The taillights are third-gen OLED. The headlights and taillights offer up to eight digital light signatures.
As standard, the Q7 rides on steel spring suspension, but there are a couple of options: adaptive air suspension and adaptive air suspension sport; the latter lowers the ride by 30 mm. Braking duties are handled by composite discs measuring 400 mm at the front and 350 mm at the rear. As for the dimensions, the 2027 Q7 measures 5,056 mm long, 2,010 mm wide (excluding mirrors) and 1,808 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,994 mm. Wheel sizes range between 20- and 23-inches, depending on the variant and/or options.
At launch, the new Q7 is available only with a diesel engine, as mentioned earlier. It’s a 3.0L V6 turbo pumping out 180 kW (245 metric hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft). There’s also a more powerful variant with 220 kW (299 metric hp) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft). Both these engines are coupled with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system featuring an electric-powered compressor for direct throttle response. The MHEV tech supports the drivetrain with up to 18 kW (24 metric hp) of extra power. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic paired with the quattro permanent AWD system and a new limited-slip center differential. Petrol and PHEV options might join the lineup at a later date.
The new Q7 can be ordered with up to 7 seats. As standard, all seats are partially power-adjustable. Some of the other key highlights include an OLED panoramic display that includes a digital cluster, a central touchscreen and a passenger display, a head-up display, and a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system (with headrest-integrated speakers). Options include automatic doors that can be operated via the myAudi app.
