MG Hector launched at Rs 12.18 lakh

After a big reveal to the media last month, MG Motor has launched their first product in India, the Hector SUV, with introductory prices starting at Rs 12,18,000 ex-showroom, Pan India.

The company claims to have received 10,000+ bookings for the Hector in 23 days since pre-orders began on June 4. Deliveries to the customers who have pre-booked the SUV has been slated from the first week of July through its network of 120 centers across India, which the carmaker aims to expand further to 250 centers by September this year.

MG is offering a package called MG Shield which provides private owners free-of-charge 5-year comprehensive manufacturer warranty for unlimited kilometers – claimed to be the best factory warranty for any vehicle sold in India. It also includes round-the-clock roadside assistance (RSA) for a period of 5 years and no labour charges for the first 5 scheduled vehicle services.

The company also offers prepaid maintenance plans starting at Rs 8,000 for the first 3 years. Its total cost of ownership (TCO) is claimed to be the lowest in the segment starting at 45 paise per kilometer for petrol and at 49 paise per kilometer for the diesel.

As a way to assure customers of the resale value, there’s a plan to buyback the Hector at a residual value of 60% upon completion of 3 years of ownership.
