New Honda City production begins in India

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has commenced production of the 5th generation City (7th generation globally) at its plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The new City made its global debut in Thailand in November 2019 and is on sale with a sporty RS variant.

Feature highlights for the Indian market include 9-LED Array headlights with integrated LED DRLs, Z-shaped wraparound 3D LED rear combi lamps, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-inch digital instrument cluster with G-meter, one-touch electric sunroof, and safety features such as 6 airbags, Lanewatch camera, Vehicle Stability Assist, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The new City in India will also feature Alexa Remote Capability.

City RS (Thailand)

For the Indian market, the powertrains are expected to be the same capacities from the outgoing model, which are 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel units, with BS6 compliance.

The Thailand market also gets a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine paired with a CVT.
