In case you missed the story last time, the Meridian is an India-spec version of the 2022 Commander that was launched in Brazil in August 2021. Key exterior features for the Indian market include Bi-function LED projector headlights, integrated running lights that double as turn signals, 17-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered liftgate with anti-pinch and obstacle detection safety features.

Besides a robust construction, other key safety features include a total of 6 airbags (standard across all variants), Rain Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist, and Automatic Vehicle Hold. Jeep claims the Meridian to pack 60+ passive and active safety features.

Inside, the space is claimed to be the best-in-class, of course, with usable third-row seats. The distance between the first and second row is said to be 840 mm, and between the second and third row, it is 780 mm.

As for comfort and convenience features, the Meridian packs a 10.1-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch driver display, wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 9-speaker Alpine audio system, a 360-degree camera, multi-zone climate control system, and third-row AC vents.

The Meridian also boasts an independent front and rear suspension setup with Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology—which is said to help preserve composure, as well as a Hydraulic Rebound Stopper (HRS) that is said to smooth out bumps and road imperfections, resulting in a perfect blend of comfort and dynamic performance.

The Meridian claims some more things as well. But anyway, moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the Meridian is offered with a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 9-speed automatic and 6-speed manual gearbox options. It is available in FWD (4×2) and AWD (4×4) configurations; as mentioned before, the latter is available only in a single variant. The engine’s output figures are 125 kW (170 metric hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft).

Bookings are open for a deposit of INR 50,000. Deliveries will commence in June 2022.
