Ducati has launched the DesertX adventure motorcycle in India, priced at INR 17,91,000, ex-showroom, PAN India. The motorcycle is available only in a single variant, but you get to choose from Star White Silk and R22 livery options; the latter is inspired by the Audi RS Q e-tron Dakar Rally car. Because remember, Ducati is a brand under the Volkswagen Group.

Ducati calls the styling of the DesertX a “post-heritage look”. I’m not entirely sure what that means, but I guess it means that the motorcycle’s styling is contemporary while paying homage to the “Dakarians”. Is it just me or the front fascia (the fairing) roughly resembles the Dakar logo?

But anyway, key highlights of this off-road motorcycle include LED headlights, a 5-inch TFT color display, Riding Modes, Power Modes, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Quick Shift up/down, Cruise Control, a USB power socket, a 12-volt socket, and self-canceling turn signals. The aforementioned display is ready for the optional Ducati Multimedia System that allows connecting a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Suspension duties are handled by a 46 mm fully-adjustable KYB upside-down fork at the front and a fully-adjustable KYB monoshock at the rear. The brake discs measure 320 mm at the front and 265 mm at the rear; Bosch Cornering ABS comes standard. The cross-spoked wheels measure 21-inch at the front and 18-inch at the rear, shod with Pirelli Scorpion Rally tyres. Download the brochure here.

Powering the DesertX is a 937 cc Ducati Testastretta 11° L-Twin engine that produces 81 kW (110 metric hp) at 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
