Includes more than €21,000 worth of options as “standard”.
The folks at Mercedes-AMG have revealed a special edition of the R232 SL, called the SL 63 4Matic+ Motorsport Collectors Edition—limited to 100 units globally. We couldn’t find the pricing or ordering information, but I guess it is being sold in the same discreet way as the new G 63 4×4².
As the name suggests, it is based on the range-topping ’63’ version of the new SL, the SL 63 4Matic+. So, what’s all the hoopla? Well, the special edition includes the €3,332 AMG Aerodynamics package, €892.50 AMG Night package and €654.50 AMG Night package. The night packages essentially add gloss-black and black chrome elements. Besides these optional extras which are included as “standard” here, the special edition’s exterior paintwork is inspired by the livery of the Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance F1 car.
The body is painted in a gradient that transitions from silver metallic at the front to obsidian black metallic towards the tail. You can also notice the star pattern at the back; on the black paint the stars are silver and on the silver, they’re black, of course. And, as you can also see, Petronas-colored contrast highlights round off the exterior of this special edition.
On the inside, you get €2,320.50 AMG Performance Seats as standard, upholstered in a combo of black Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre (€1,785); you get to choose between red and yellow contrast stitching. €2,737 AMG carbon fibre accents package, €5,926.20 Burmester 3D surround sound system, €1,178.10 head-up display, €297.50 AMG Track Pace, €2,891.70 Driving Assistance Package and a Guard 360° package are also part of this special edition.
Nothing else changes, as you might have probably guessed. And you already know what to do if you don’t get an allocation for one of these, right? Just buy all the aforementioned options for your SL 63 and reach out to your nearest customization shop.
