Genesis X Gran Equator Concept previews a luxurious off-roader

If you’re attending the 2025 New York International Auto Show, you can check out the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept, which I think previews a future rugged luxury off-roader. The name is taken from a famous Polish stallion named Equator (currently leased to Aljassimya Farm in Qatar). I’m told that he is recognised as the “finest stallion” in the world of Arabian horses.

The Equator Concept features a clean and minimalistic design with Genesis-specific styling elements such as the two-line headlights and taillights, and the G-Matrix Pattern on the 24-inch beadlock wheels. Apparently, the LEDs in a circular housing on the lower part of the front fascia are auxiliary lights.

The design of the Equator Concept was led by Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis. For the uninitiated, some of Luc’s past creations include Murciélago, Gallardo, and the original Skoda Octavia.

If you already like how it looks from the outside, I think you’ll love the interior design. There’s a bit of retro flair going on with those analogue-looking circular gauges on the dashboard, and also, notice the circular instrument cluster pods behind the steering wheel. Indeed, it’s a refreshing design amidst the dashboard full of digital displays we’ve been seeing lately. The steering wheel and centre console have physical buttons, which makes some of us happy. The cabin overall looks as luxurious as a Bentley with its two-tone upholstery, contrast stitching, and choice of materials.

No technical info was shared. But I’m guessing the production version may offer hybrid and all-electric options.
